One hundrend fifty girls who completed a six-month programme as teaching assistants in different schools have been motivated to pursue education at university and later, join the teaching field. 

The girls with best grades in sciences in high school were selected and supported by the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE)-Rwanda, a pan-African non-governmental organisation founded in 1992 to promote girls’ and women’s education in sub-Saharan Africa. 

Many secondary school scientist leavers are not used to learning Education as they join University Institutions. They prefer to expand their knowledge in other disciplines such as medical doctors and Researchers, which limit knowledge transfer to the young generation.

To bridge this gap, a local education stakeholder ‘Inspire Educate and Empower’ (IEE)-Rwanda has been running a six-month teaching assistantship project in partnership with Rwanda Education Board under the support of MasterCard Foundation.

Umuryango IEE Rwanda(Inspire Educate and empawer Rwanda) ufasha urubyiruko rw’abakobwa basoje amashuri yisumbuye bagize amanota meza mu bijyanye n’Imibare na Science kumenyerezwa umwuga w’ubwarimu binyuze mu mushinga wiswe Teaching Assistant, aho uru rubyiruko rwishimira ubumenyi bukura muri uyu mushinga mu gihe cy’amezi atandatu bamara bamenyerezwa hirya mu hino mu gihugu.

Niyonteze Clementine wasoje amashuri yisumbuye muri FAWE Rwanda, akaba yaritabiriye aya mahugurwa ya IEE mu gihe cy’amezi atandatu avuga ko nyuma yo kumenerezwa, nawe yatinyutse akiyumvamo umwuga w’ubwarimu.

Guverinoma y’u Rwanda yafashe ingamba nyinshi mu kuzamura ireme ry’uburezi, zirimo izishingiye ku kunoza imyigire n’imyigishirize, guteza imbere umwuga wo kwigisha n’izizamura imibereho ya mwarimu.

Girls who complete high school with excellent grades in sciences can now access skills training in the teaching profession and are also given slots as teaching assistants.

The move is aimed at inspiring more girls into the science field as well as help improve quality of education.

As the world education model is looking for quality contents and curriculum to shape the future generation into decent teachers, leaders and scientists, young generation of today is running away teaching profession.

To bridge this gap, some education activists in Rwanda are looking for strategies to revive the love of this profession among high school graduates.

IEE (Inspire Educate and Empower Rwanda) yatangiye gufasha abakobwa basoje amashuri yisumbuye batsinze neza masomo y’imibare na Siyansi(Sciences) gukunda umwuga w’uburezi no kwigisha babikunze binyuze mu mushinga “Teaching Assistantship Project”.

Uyu mushinga uzabafasha gutinyuka bakumva ko bashobora kwiga amasomo ya siyansi kandi nabo bakayigisha abandi.
