Those who pursue science and TVET subjects and get excellent grades, often join careers such as medicine, engineering and others but not teaching.
How ‘Teaching Assistantship Project’ is inspiring girls to become educationists
One hundrend fifty girls who completed a six-month programme as teaching assistants in different schools have been motivated to pursue education at university and later, join the teaching field.
The girls with best grades in sciences in high school were selected and supported by the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE)-Rwanda, a pan-African non-governmental organisation founded in 1992 to promote girls’ and women’s education in sub-Saharan Africa.
Quality Education: IEE-Rwanda Empowers young scientists to become teachers
Many secondary school scientist leavers are not used to learning Education as they join University Institutions. They prefer to expand their knowledge in other disciplines such as medical doctors and Researchers, which limit knowledge transfer to the young generation.
To bridge this gap, a local education stakeholder ‘Inspire Educate and Empower’ (IEE)-Rwanda has been running a six-month teaching assistantship project in partnership with Rwanda Education Board under the support of MasterCard Foundation.

Teaching Assistantship Project: An opportune mission to attract girls into sciences
