Dear reader, we intend to enable you meet most of our stakeholders in the Teaching Assistantships Project. And so, here we go:

Today, we are pleased to introduce you to Yankurije Cynthia. Cynthia, is one of the bright female young scholars sponsored by Mastercard Foundation in the Scholars programme in collaborating with FAWE Rwanda. She studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and scored 52/73 in her final high school exams. Cynthia is one of the 150 Teaching Assistants posted at 73 schools across 15 districts as part of the Teaching Assistantships Project funded by Mastercard Foundation, being implemented by Inspire Educate and Empower Rwanda (IEE).

Cynthia is posted at GS Rugando, Kacyiru, Kigali, Rwanda where she is supporting the teaching of mathematics and science alongside experienced teachers.

Cynthia is excited to be part of the Teaching Assistantships Project, whereby she says:

I am happy to be part of the Teaching Assistantships Project because it will help me gain new life skills like teaching techniques, public speaking skills as well as boosting my confidence. I will then be able to pass these on to my fellow students whom I will be supporting. I am also happy to be part of the project since I am now in position to help my fellow young students to perform well in their studies.

Cynthia is very thankful to Mastercard Foundation for building a solid foundation for her education. She sees the Teaching Assistantships Project as an opportunity to nurture her skills, while also having opportunity to give back to her community and country in general by supporting the learning of her fellow students through the Teaching Assistantships Project.

On being asked whether she wants to be a teacher in future, Cynthia smiles and says:

Time will tell. But my ambition has been to do biomedical laboratory studies as my future career. I could also teach biomedical laboratory studies in future!

During her free time, Cynthia likes reading books and meeting and talking to new people. So, here is the young, vibrant Cynthia for you!
