Dear reader, we intend to enable you meet most of our stakeholders in the Teaching Assistantships Project. And so, here we go:

Today, we are pleased to introduce you to Tuyisenge Carine. Carine 18 years old, is the 6th in a family of 7 children. Carine has 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology at her Advanced Level examinations and excelled with 67 out of 73 aggregates. Carine is one of the bright female young scholars sponsored by Mastercard Foundation in the Scholars programme in collaboration with FAWE Rwanda. Carine is also one of the 150 Teaching Assistants posted at 75 schools across 15 districts as part of the Teaching Assistantships Project funded by Mastercard Foundation, being implemented by Inspire Educate and Empower Rwanda (IEE).

Carine is posted at Groupe Scolaire st Vincent Palotti, Gikondo, Kigali, Rwanda where she is supporting the teaching of physics in three streams in Senior One alongside experienced teachers. In this way, Carine is supporting a total number of 152 students both boys and girls. Carine is happy to be part of the Teaching Assistantships Project, as she notes:

I am very excited to participate in the Teaching Assistantships Project because I believe that education is the key to development and through this project while supporting my young brothers and sisters, I will be developing my country.

Carine is grateful to Mastercard Foundation and IEE for shaping her future by giving her all the necessary skills which will not only help her in her Teaching Assistantship work but also in her personal development through the Teaching Assistantships Project.

Will Carine take on education as her future career? She smiles and says:

Well, my aspiration has been being a dental surgeon but I believe every one is a teacher everywhere and life is a teaching and learning process, so I will be teaching whoever I meet along my career journey and I will learn from them as well!.

The aim of the Teaching Assistantships Project is that Teaching Assistants could be inspired to take up teaching careers or consider education as area of further academic study. So, while some Teaching Assistants like Carine are resolutely clear that they want to take up careers other than Education, many of them are increasingly expressing aspirations to change their tertiary education course choices to Education. Attracting passionate, young women with an interest in education to join the teaching profession is the success indicator of the Teaching Assistantships Project.

During her free time, Carine likes meeting new people, helping other people, public speaking, playing basketball and reading novels.

So, that is the young, ambitious and smiley Carine for you!   Reactions to this content may be addressed to: ieerwanda.directorate.org@gmail.com
